I am Kevin Stilwell and I am passionate about winning.......I hate to come second whether it's in a football match, a golf game or in a sales cycle. I played football and cricket to a high standard and play golf off a handicap of 5. I am not a natural in any of the sports I played but I got good coaching and I worked hard to build my skills. I never missed a training session and was often the last to leave. I want to help you create more winners.

I formed No Prize for Second in May 2009 because I felt that the time was right for me to use the good and the bad lessons I have learned over the past 30 years in IT sales and sales management. In my sales career I generated direct and indirect revenues for global vendors such as Rank Xerox, Data General, Tetra, Oracle and Siemens as well as an early stage startup. I managed, worked with and was managed by, sales people with varying levels of core sales skills. I started my career at Rank Xerox with 6 months of intensive training and mentoring and the skills I learned there and the good and bad I have seen over that period have stayed with me.

Companies, in general, have always pushed back on sales training believing that you hire good sales people with a good track record and they will continue to deliver, if they don't, you move them on and hire some more successful people and carry the cost of that process and the time to ramp up new people. many people working in sales roles today have had little or no formal training.

I believe that good sales people are not born, there are certain personality types that lend themselves to selling, but sales is a process and people can be taught to sell. Those taught skills need constant refreshing to ensure sales people remain at peak performance levels. A sales course every two or three years is not enough, especially in a classroom with little or no follow up. What about books, if you type sales training books into Google you get 36 million results, many claiming to have the latest and greatest method to turn you into a world beater, all for £14.99.
